South Korea’s SICAF 2019 is to screen Iranian short animated work ‘Mr. Deer’.

The 23rd edition of the Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF) in South Korea has scheduled to screen Iranian short animated work ‘Mr. Deer’.

Directed by Mojtaba Mousavi, the animation will go on the South Korean screen on July 18 and 19, 2019.

Produced by Elaheh Farnia, ‘Mr. Deer’ took two years of production with professional tech crew in collaboration.

The 9-minute animation is set in an unknown time, in a ruined subway station which is similar to those in modern European societies. People in this society have animal faces and have forgotten humane values.

It was awarded at the international competition section of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran, received Special Award of the 28th Zagreb Animation Festival (Animafest) in Croatia, and won the Special Award of the 10th Skepto International Film Festival in Italy.

The SICAF is an annual showcase festival of animation, cartoon and related art genres held in Seoul, South Korea since 1995. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the city of Seoul.

The festival has exhibitions, showing of animation films, promotion booths and various special events. There are an official competition section and invited guest section. Awards are given to the categories of long animation, short animation, TV & commissioned works, and internet animation.

The 23rd edition of the SICAF is slated for July 17-21, 2019.
